The New Viking star has just been launched. The ship is the first of three vessels for the new Viking Ocean Cruises line. The Star accommodates 930 passengers in 465 staterooms – each with its own veranda – and is small enough to offer direct access to most ports ensuring guests have easy embarkation and disembarkation.

According to the cruise line, Viking star was thoughtfully created by experienced nautical architects and designers to enrich your interaction with your destination in every way.

The Viking Star’s décor pays homage to its’ Nordic heritage – it is light-filled with modern Scandinavian lines. Woven textiles and light wood evoke the viking spirit and a connection to the natural world. A carefully curated collection of Norwegian artwork adorns the walls of the restaurants and public spaces.

A highlight of the Viking Star is a glass-backed infinity pool off the stern which offers unobstructed views.

Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking Cruises said: “This is a ship that was built for exploration and designed with our Scandinavian heritage in mind, and our guests will experience it from the moment they step onboard.”

The Viking Star will cruise the Mediterranean, Baltic and Northern Europe in 2015/16. Sister ships The Viking Sea and The Viking Sky are currently under construction.
