Exciting news for The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection with the inaugural vessel sliding down the slipway and into the water for the first time on Tuesday.

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is a new player in the luxury cruise market, offering bespoke voyages aboard intimate 298-guest yachts. Indeed, their website promises flexibility to allow immersion in life’s exceptional experiences as well as exploration of earth’s exquisite and unexpected hideaways. The cruise line say their vessels will offer an intimate setting with a heightened level of care and attention.

The completion of the hull of the first Ritz-Carlton yacht is a major milestone for the company.

In maritime tradition the hull was given a blessing at the official launch ceremony in Vigo, Spain. Restraining bolts were then released and the hull slide, stern-first, into the water.

Many team members were on hand for exciting occasion, including Douglas Prothero, CEO of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection and Fredrik Johansson, the owner of Sweden’s Tillberg Design firm who now have the task of creating the yacht’s hand-crafted interiors.

The new yacht will be named in another ceremony this December. It will be officially launched in 2020 following a glittering christening celebration in February that year.
