Silversea have revealed an all-new wellness program that embraces the cruise line’s Italian heritage. Known as Otium it will debut on Silver Dawn, taking inspiration from the lifestyles of the ancient Romans.
In Roman culture otium was a time of leisure, when people bathed, conversed, sung, theorised, ate, drank and relaxed. Now Otium will be a part of Silversea’s luxury lifestyle on the forthcoming Silver Dawn cruise ship.

Silversea tell us Otium will enhance every aspect of the on board experience from spa to private suites. In fact, there will be a reimagined spa, an in-suite Otium bathing ritual and even an Otium balcony experience.
An otium inspired spa on Silver Dawn
Indeed, Silver Dawn’s spa will be designed with Otium indulgences in mind. There will be champagne and caviar in the thermal areas and new indulgent treatments will also be available.
Silversea’s Otium bathing philosophy
The Otium indulgence will extend to guests suites with a new bespoke bathing experience. Here, butlers will draw relaxing baths and there will be Otium bathrobes as well as exclusive bath salts and soothing candle lights.
New Silversea Otium balcony experience
There will also be a signature Otium balcony experience, designed to encourage cruisers to slow down and enjoy the view. These curated pampering experiences will vary according to the climate. In cool weather there will be cashmere blankets as well as delectable appetisers. Not to mention the first hot chocolate menu at sea.
In warmer climes the Otium experience will incorporate refreshing body mists, cocktails and gourmet bites as well as luxurious sun creams.
Otium in-room dining
The Silversea Otium philosophy will even extend to in-room dining, designed to enhance guests’ movie nights. There will be pre-dinner aperitifs, not to mention treats like lobster and caviar in brioche rolls as well as gourmet popcorn.
