Crystal Grace promises to redefine luxury cruising when she debuts in 2028
After a 25-year hiatus from new ocean ship construction, Crystal has announced plans for Crystal Grace, a vessel that signals an ambitious new chapter for the reimagined luxury cruise line. Scheduled for delivery in May 2028, the ship will set sail on her inaugural voyage the following month, marking a significant milestone for the brand under the ownership of Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group.
The name itself speaks to Crystal’s design philosophy. Grace evokes the refined aesthetic and seamless experience that has defined the line since its inception, while nodding to the elegant manner in which Crystal’s vessels navigate the world’s most sought-after destinations. It’s a fitting choice for a brand recently awarded the World’s Best Cruise Line by Travel + Leisure.
An intimate vessel with outsized amenities
Crystal Grace will accommodate 650 passengers based on double occupancy across a 61,800-gross-ton vessel – intimate by contemporary cruise standards and bucking the trend of shoehorning ever more passenges aboard luxury vessels. Every accommodation will be a suite, continuing Crystal’s commitment to generous personal space. A wraparound promenade deck promises to become a favorite feature for guests seeking ocean views during leisurely walks.
The ship maintains one of the highest crew-to-passenger ratios in the luxury segment, ensuring the bespoke attention that has become synonymous with the Crystal name over three decades of operation.
Culinary excellence at the heart of the experience
Dining aboard Crystal Grace reads like a roster of the world’s most celebrated restaurants. Umi Uma, chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s exclusive at-sea concept, returns alongside Beefbar, Riccardo Giraudi’s acclaimed steakhouse. Osteria d’Ovidio features menus crafted by the Alajmo brothers, whose three Michelin stars in Italy speak to their culinary prowess. Notably, all dining experiences are included in the voyage fare.
The Abercrombie & Kent advantage
What distinguishes Crystal Grace from competitors is the backing of Abercrombie & Kent’s global network of destination management companies. This integration allows the cruise line to curate shore experiences with an insider’s perspective – a capability no other cruise operator can match. The partnership transforms port calls from standard excursions into carefully orchestrated journeys designed by specialists with decades of local expertise.
Looking ahead
Crystal plans to reveal suite categories in December, with additional details about inaugural voyages and design features following in subsequent months. The ship’s 2028 season will open for booking in April 2026, with a waitlist launching soon for those eager to secure early access.
For those who appreciate the intimacy of small-ship cruising paired with world-class amenities, Crystal Grace represents a significant addition to the luxury market – one that gives a nod the brand’s distinguished heritage while embracing contemporary expectations for sophistication at sea.
