Silversea Cruises leads the return to cruising with their newest vessel being the first ultra-luxury cruise ship to complete a voyage since the pandemic forced a pause to cruising.

Silver Moon sailed triumphantly into Piraeus Port (Athens), Greece at the end of her debut voyage where a ceremony was held to officially welcome her into the fleet.

In fine maritime tradition, the 596-guest Silver Moon recieved a blessing before the ship’s Godmother broke a bottle of champagne over the bow.

“This is an extraordinary milestone in the history of our cruise line. We have christened Silver Moon as the ninth ship in our fleet, marking an evolution in 21st-century luxury travel. She represents our industry’s strength and resilience.”

Roberto Martinoli – Silversea Cruises CEO.

Silver Moon debuts onboard enhancements

Silver Moon is the ninth ship in the ultra-luxury Silversea fleet. The cruise line promise guests will re-discover a world of unrivalled comfort and whispered luxury on board.

Indeed, Silver Moon is the second Muse-class vessel in the fleet. A third – Silver Dawn – is also schedule for delivery this year. S.A.L.T. is Silversea’s new culinary discovery program which enables guests to delve deeper into each region’s cuisine. It includes the S.A.L.T. kitchen, lab and bar, as well as shore excursions showcasing the epicurean culture of each destination.

Silversea have continued their return to cruising with Silver Muse also sailing a voyage to Alaska. In addition, the refurbished Silver Shadow is making a circumnavigation of Iceland.

A commitment to health and safety

Key to Silversea’s successful return to cruising appears to be a commitment to health and safety. In fact most ships in the Silversea fleet have earned Certification in Infection Prevention for the Maritime industry (CIP-M). This certification comes from the world’s leading classification society, DNV. The certified vessels include Silver Moon, Silver Muse, Silver Origin, Silver Shadow, Silver Whisper and Silver Explorer.

In addition, all crew and guests must have had the required COVID-19 vaccinations at least two weeks prior to embarking.
