Seabourn have officially taken delivery of their newest luxury cruise ship, Seabourn Encore, during an handover ceremony at the iconic Fincantieri shipyard in Italy today. The new Seabourn Encore sets sail with her first guests in just 3 days.

The Encore is the first in a new class of cruise ships for Seabourn. Although the size and architecture of Seabourn Encore is not radically different from Seabourn’s other three ships, guests will notice a distinctive difference. Acclaimed designer Adam D. Tihany was enlisted to reimagine the interiors and according to the line there is a new softness and a curvaceous elegance to his designs.

The Seabourn Encore accommodates 600 guests in 300 luxurious suites. It is configured with one additional deck, newly expanded public areas, and modern design elements reflecting a classic Seabourn understated elegance.

New features include The Retreat, a sanctuary designed for guests to relax in private cabanas. Guests will also enjoy superb cuisine in the new Grill restaurant by three-star Michelin chef Thomas Keller. And Sushi will make its debut as a destination for foodies, with high-quality dishes served throughout the day.

As we previously reported, Seabourn Encore will be officially christened at a ceremony in Singapore on 7 January 2017 by best-selling soprano, Sarah Brightman. The ship will then cruise the Indonesian islands before setting sail for Australia and the beautiful harbour city of Sydney.

When Seabourn Encore sets sail she will feature a new production show, An Evening with Tim Rice, created exclusively for Seabourn. Tim Rice will sail on the inaugural voyage.

Seabourn President Rick Meadows said the cruise line had been looking forward to the handover for more than two years.

“Seabourn Encore has become a stunning ship that will set a new standard in ultra-luxury cruising. I am very proud of our partnership with Fincantieri, and it has been a great pleasure to work together to transform raw materials into this incredible vessel that will make a great addition to the Seabourn fleet.”

The first guests will be welcomed aboard on 4 December 2016 as Seabourn Encore sets sail from Athens (Piraeus Port) to Dubai and then on to Singapore.
