P&O Australia continues its expansion program with the announcement today that it will acquire a new ship in early 2017.

The vessel, which will accommodate 2,000 guests and boast 400 balcony rooms, will be named Pacific Explorer. The ship is currently sailing in the Princess Cruises fleet as the Dawn Princess.

According to P&O the newly badged Pacific Explorer will reflect the fresh and contemporary design of this year’s newcomers, Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden. It will also feature a resort-style pool and a range of exciting dining venues including Angelo’s Italian, Dragon Lady and Waterfront – all of which also feature on Pacific Aria and Eden. The incredibly popular dining experience, The Pantry, will also be included on the new Pacific Explorer.

As we reported in July, P&Os other ship, Pacific Pearl, received a multi-million dollar refit in August.

Pacific Explorer is scheduled to enter the P&O fleet in May 2017 and will sail from Sydney during its inaugural season. The first program featuring Pacific Explorer will be  released early next month.
