As we have previously reported, the transformation of Silver Cloud will make her the most luxurious expedition vessel afloat. Her hull has been strengthened and all public rooms and suites have been redesigned.

Commenting after the sail-out from Malta, Amber Wilson, Managing Director Asia Pacific for Silversea Cruises, said: “As the first ship to launch Silversea Cruises’ fleet in 1994, Silver Cloud holds a special place in our history. The vessel’s new hull provides the combined strength and maneuverability required to explore polar waters and will allow her to navigate through ice floes and pack. She will also offer new standards in luxury, style and comfort and some of the largest suites available in expedition cruising.”

Silver Cloud Expedition has a guest capacity of just 200 in polar-regions and 254 in non-polar regions. Those guests lucky enough to be on-board the vessel will enjoy the highest levels of personalised and attentive service with a one-to-one staff to guest ratio.

The new vessel has a new set of navigational equipment too, including state-of-the-art Sonar and Thermal Imaging equipment to increase visibility over the ice during navigation. She now also boasts a system allowing her to navigate at slow speeds for more precise maneuvering in the presence of ice.

Silver Cloud Expedition will also offer a Polar Sea Kayaking Programme, complimentary, fully-escorted shore programmes including Zodiac exploration in some of the most remote destinations, as well as a state-of-the-art lecture room known as The Explorer Lounge.
