Guests can sail a Silversea World Cruise with Paul Theroux – the international best-selling author. There will also be a world famous philosopher on the Silver Whisper World Cruise in 2019.

Travel writer and novelist Paul Theroux as well as big-thinker Alain de Botton will be among a group of creative Tale Tellers to entertain and inform guests on the luxury World Cruise.

Guests sailing Silversea with Paul Theroux and Alain de Botton will have the rare opportunity to meet and learn from the pair. Theroux is famed for his witty and insightful travel guides – each one a unique account of his journeys through foreign lands. Perhaps the best known of these tales are “The Great Railway Bazaar” and “The Pillars of Hercules”.

Alain de Botton is the philosopher who shot to international stardom with his acclaimed TV series “The Perfect Home”. He is also a best-selling writer with many insightful titles including “The Architecture of Happiness” and “Status Anxiety”.

Paul Theroux and de Botton will each embark Silver Whisper for a segment of the incredible 52-port voyage, as will award-winning photographer Steve McCurry, Conde Nast Travel writer Sophy Roberts, acclaimed author Pico Iyer and four other Tale Tellers who are yet to be announced.

The talented creatives will each host a series of lectures for guests while on board and will produce a literary journal or artwork, inspired by their destinations and experiences. Silversea promise these efforts will enrich the onboard experience and will combine to create a fascinating anthology of the voyage. A copy of each Tale Teller’s journal or artwork will be presented as a gift to world cruisers.

The Silversea World Cruise has become world-famous. As always, it will be aboard the intimate, resort-style Silver Whisper which sets sail from San Francisco on 6 January 2019 and concludes 132-days later in London on 19 May 2019.

Silversea’s World Cruise will visit 31 countries across five continents. Along the way guests will be offered bespoke land tours to complement and enhance the itinerary. It’s a journey not to be missed.
