Exciting news for The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection with the inaugural vessel sliding down the slipway and into the water for the first time on Tuesday.
The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is a new player in the luxury cruise market, offering bespoke voyages aboard intimate 298-guest yachts. The completion of the hull of the first yacht is a major milestone for the company.
In maritime tradition the hull was given a blessing at the official launch ceremony in Vigo, Spain. Restraining bolts were then released and the hull slide, stern-first, into the water.
Many team members were on hand for exciting occasion, including Douglas Prothero, CEO of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection and Fredrik Johansson, the owner of Sweden’s Tillberg Design firm who now have the task of creating the yacht’s hand-crafted interiors.
The new yacht will be named in another ceremony this December. It will be officially launched in 2020 following a glittering christening celebration in February that year.
