Silversea’s most intimate cruise ships are set for a major makeover as part of a multi-year plan to enhance the ultra luxury cruise brand.

Known as Project Invictus the plan will see three Silversea cruise ships transformed from bow to stern as well as a range of enhanced service offerings rolled out fleet-wide.

It was no coincidence the announcement came on the day Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd officially took its 66.7% stake in Silversea. Indeed, the RCL deal was intended to give Silversea the funding it needed to enable both fleet expansion and renovation.

A statement from the company said that the scheduled renovation of the 382-guest Silver Whisper in December 2018 will now be far more extensive than initially planned. Indeed, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd told us the Silver Whisper renovation will include a partial refit of all guest “cabins”.

With just 296-guests Silver Wind is the most intimate ship in the Silversea ocean cruising fleet. In December she will also go in for an enhanced dry dock refit. This will be followed in early 2019 by a much-needed renovation of the 382-guest Silver Shadow.

The transformation of all three vessels will take inspiration from the acclaimed interior decor of the line’s flag ship Silver Muse. The transformation will also ensure a consistent delivery of hard product, following the renovation of Silver Spirit earlier in 2018.

However, guests won’t have to wait that long to see other enhancements. Starting 19 August 2018 there will be an “upgraded Champagne and caviar offering”. No details of this have yet been revealed, however it will commence on Silver Muse before being promptly rolled out across the fleet.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd also tell us other enhancements will be implemented fleet wide, designed to strengthening Silversea’s reputation for indulgent, luxurious embellishments.

We will keep you updated on the initial Silver Whisper renovation, as well as the other Silversea enhancements.

Has Silversea issued a firm date for the refurbishment of the Silver Shadow? Also, will the proposed refurbishment of the Silver Shadow be similar to the latest enhancements completed on the Silver Whisper?

    Hi George

    UPDATED

Silver Shadow is due for renovation in October 2019. All the details are here.

The changes you will see on Silver Shadow will indeed be similar to those on Silver Whisper. The entire fleet is being ‘Musified’ – in other words, made to look similar to Silver Muse.

I am due to sail on Shadow in March 2019 so I very pleased to hear of the upgrade.
HOWEVER, the recent reviews of Shadow have revealed a consistent drop in the quality of dining facilities, food and wine selection.
Most commentators thought this was because of the high percentage ownership now of Celebrity.
This is something I have worried about since Celebrity became a predominant share holder.
I have sailed with Silversea previously. I am still within the cancellation period and am thinking seriously about it.
Single passengers pay a very high premium to sail with Silversea. If the quality of the restaurants, food and wine (generally the staff appear to be the most favourably commented on) is not going to be of exemplary standard and quality, the standing of Silversea as a 6 star (or even 5 star) cruise line will not stand up to scrutiny.

Perhaps I should have more correctly describe the share holding as…Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd to be accurate.
In any event, management should take note of clients “reviews” to really understand and appreciate what is happening
