When Oceania Sonata makes her debut in August 2027, she’ll introduce a quietly revolutionary approach to suite design at sea – one that speaks to those who understand that true luxury lies in thoughtful details rather than grand gestures.

A ship designed around spaciousness

The numbers reveal the philosophy: 86,000 gross tons carrying just 1,390 guests, attended by 855 crew members. Oceania Cruises has dedicated a full third of Sonata’s accommodations to suites, creating a ship where space becomes the foundation of the experience.

This inaugural vessel of the new Sonata Class arrives at a moment when discerning globetrotters increasingly seek intimacy over scale, quality over quantity.

Accommodations that rival the finest homes ashore

At the pinnacle sit four Owner’s Suites, each commanding more than 2,500 square feet with 180-degree ocean views from wraparound verandas.

In a departure for Oceania, each features two complete bedroom suites: a master chamber with king-size bed and marble-clad spa bathroom, plus a guest bedroom with queen-size bed, private bath, and veranda access – an arrangement that acknowledges how modern cruisers actually use their space at sea.

Eight Vista Suites, ranging from 1,500 to 1,900 square feet, occupy privileged stern positions. Their terraced configuration ensures unobstructed ocean views, while interiors speak in marble accents and carefully curated furnishings. The master bathroom becomes a sanctuary with double vanities, porcelain soaking tub, and rainforest shower.

Sixteen Oceania Suites, spanning 1,000 to 1,400 square feet, demonstrate how meticulous attention to flow can make spaces feel both intimate and expansive. Living areas, dining spaces, and bedrooms connect seamlessly, while private teak verandas become extensions of your suite where sea breezes remind you why you chose to travel by ship.

A new category emerges

Perhaps most intriguing: 50 Horizon Suites, an entirely new category positioned between Penthouse and Oceania Suite offerings.

At over 600 square feet, these answer a specific brief for those who appreciate contemporary design and seek more than standard staterooms offer. Distinct living and bedroom spaces, walk-through wardrobes, and oversized verandas create sanctuaries perfectly suited for extended voyages.

Completing the collection are 63 Penthouse Suites at 426 square feet and 82 Penthouse Deluxe Suites at 488 square feet – elegant retreats that maximize usable space through intelligent design.

The details that define luxury

Across all suite categories, dedicated butlers ensure service remains personal and intuitive. Guests in Owner’s, Vista, Oceania, and Horizon Suites find in-suite illy coffee machines for private veranda mornings. Every suite features Oceania’s next-generation Tranquility Beds and Aquamar luxury bath amenities.

What makes Oceania Sonata compelling isn’t simply the square footage or marble – it’s the philosophy that guests deserve accommodations designed around how they actually want to live at sea. This is a ship for travelers who seek authenticity over ostentation, space over spectacle.

Oceania Sonata’s inaugural season itineraries will be available for viewing on January 21, 2026, with bookings opening January 28, 2026.
