Details of the multi-million dollar refurbishment of one of Silversea’s most intimate cruise ships have been revealed. The 388-guest Silver Shadow will be transformed with entirely new decor and brand new public spaces.

It’s part of Silversea’s fleet wide improvement program called Project Invictus. Silver Shadow will be out of service for approximately 6-weeks from mid-October while the transformation is completed. The biggest changes will see a new Atrium area created on deck 5, as well as redesigned Vista and Veranda suites.

Redesigned suites

Indeed, all of Silver Shadow’s suites will be refurbished, including Medallion, Silver, Grand, Royal and Owner’s suites. They will receive the same decor, palette and materials as Silversea’s flagship, Silver Muse.

The existing Veranda Suites will be redesigned in Silver Muse-style.

However, the Vista and Veranda suites will get a deeper renovation. All fixed and loose furniture will be changed and there will be new lighting, carpets, and headboards. In addition, the bathrooms will also be upgraded with new sinks and Silestone material.

The top of the line Owner’s Suite will also be entirely renovated too, with a full refurbishment of the bathroom.

New public spaces

Silver Shadow will get some entirely new public spaces during the transformation. Indeed, one of the biggest changes will be the addition of a new Atrium in the existing Lobby, Boutique and Casino area.

The existing collection of small rooms will be entirely opened up to make it a social hub. “We will take everything down. We want people to engage more freely and easily. This is probably one of the biggest changes that we are making with Silver Shadow”, said Peter Shanks, the managing director of Silversea U.K.

Indeed, the centrepiece of the new Atrium will be the Arts Cafe – a Silver Muse-inspired space where guests can relax amid sophisticated paintings and objet d’art. It is sure to be a popular addition to Silver Shadow.

The specialty French restaurant known as La Dame will also get a major makeover. It will be enlarged to accommodate up to 40 diners.

Also, the Connoisseur’s Corner and the Casino will both be redesigned and moved during the transformation. They will be placed next-door to each other on Deck 8 (in the space formerly occupied by the Library and Internet Café). It’s a natural fit for the two venues.

In addition, the Zagara Beauty Spa & Fitness Centre will get a much needed top-to-bottom renovation. While the Observation Lounge will be remade into an Observation Library with a curated selection of books. It will be similar to Tor’s Observation Library on Silver Muse, only without the bar.

The Restaurant, La Terrazza, Panorama Lounge, The Bar, The Show Lounge, and Card/Conference Rooms will receive new décor. This will include new furniture, upholstery, carpets, and wall/window treatments.

The Silver Shadow pool deck will be refurbished and receive new outdoor furniture.

The pool area will also get new outdoor furniture, as well as a refurbished teak deck. While the jogging track will look much better with the application of a new teak resin.

“We are committed to maintaining the impeccable standards of the Silversea experience, and this major refurbishment of Silver Shadow represents a significant investment for the benefit of our guests,” said Roberto Martinoli, Silversea’s CEO.

A decision on where Silver Shadow will enter dry dock is yet to be announced. Silver Shadow’s first voyage following the transformation will be in the Caribbean – a seven-night itinerary, departing Fort Lauderdale for San Juan on 3 December 2019.
