Public health officials said that from February to April over 550 passengers from 30 voyages, as well as crews from 8 different ships, all showed signs of the flu. They have urged cruisers to get a flu vaccination at least 2 weeks prior to sailing to ensure they are protected.

Vicky Sheppeard, director of the communicable diseases branch of NSW Health in Australia told local press: “We are asking everyone to get vaccinated, because if you catch flu it will ruin your cruise and for some people it could result in severe illness”.
