Luxury cruise line, Silversea, have announced that cruise tickets will now be emailed to guests as an electronic document.
Silversea electronic cruise tickets
The line says cruise documents including tickets, transfer information and pre/post cruise arrangements will be sent as an optimised email. The new Silversea electronic cruise tickets must be printed and presented at the pier prior to boarding. As we have previously reported these cruise documents used to be posted to Silversea guests in a smart Travel Journal.
The Travel Journal stays
Silversea have told CruiseOyster that guests can still expect to receive a Travel Journal, however it will no longer contain the cruise ticket. Therefore guests will not have to take the Travel Journal onboard. It will remain a personalised document but will only serve as a keepsake featuring voyage and destination highlights.
Guest still get luggage tags
The move to electronic documents follows that of many other cruise lines that even include luggage tags in electronic form. However, Silversea have confirmed to us that physical luggage tags will still be sent with the Travel Journal.
Document delivery
The Silversea electronic cruise tickets will be generated starting 50 days prior to sailing once guests have completed the Guest Information Form, which is required to confirm the booking as well as to process the cruise ticket.
The Travel Journal will be sent in advance starting 100 days prior to sailing once the Guest Information Form has been completed and the booking is paid in full.
