Emma's Queen Mary 2 cruise review
I’ve sailed on Queen Mary 2 before, so I was keen to see what the ship looked like now that she had been remastered.
On my last cruise I had a sheltered balcony rom which had a metal fronted balcony. This time I booked a balcony room with an obstructed view but had a glass front. Lucky for me the view wasn’t all that obstructed by lifeboats because my room happened to be located in the space between lifeboats. So I got to see pretty clearly.
The main change to the rooms is a new colour scheme. There is also a new sofa which is much more modern looking. There is also a flat screen TV on the wall opposite the bed this was great and much better than the old TV which used to sit in the corner.
I’ve gotta say the bathroom looked exactly the same to me. I don’t think they did much with it when Queen Mary 2 was remastered. I also thought the bathroom was a bit smaller than the bathroom on Queen Victoria.
Our cruise was for five days and most nights we ate in the Britannia restaurant. The food was good but not great. We also tried the Veranda restaurant and the food there was much better. I think it’s worth paying the supplement. You can also eat in the revamped Kings Court which is really a huge self service buffet. It’s been made much more user-friendly but it’s still a really busy place to eat that feels like a cafeteria.
The entertainment on board was good and I have to say I enjoyed the quartet in the chart room each evening.
All in all it was a good experience and the ship does look better now that it has been made over. I’d come back for more!
