The Silver Muse Veranda Suite is the most spacious suite in its class. It comes in three identically-sized categories - Classic, Superior and Deluxe. Silver Muse Veranda Suite (Updated 2020) Review
Silversea Cruises pioneered the ultra-luxury veranda suite. Now they have perfected it. In fact the Silver Muse Veranda Suite is a model of understated elegance. It has designer finishes, a large veranda with stylish outdoor furniture and impeccable butler service.
There are three Silver Muse Veranda Suite categories – Classic, Superior and Deluxe. However, it’s worth noting that they are all identical. Only their location on the cruise ship varies.
That said, all the suites on Silver Muse are located toward the front and middle of the ship. This was another Silversea innovation which ensures there is never any noise disturbance from the public areas.
The Silver Muse Veranda Suite floor plan
The Silver Muse Veranda Suites are the biggest in their class. Each one has more space to stretch out and relax in than any other veranda suite at sea. Indeed, every suite has 30 sq. m. / 323 sq. ft. of internal space, as well as a veranda measuring 6 sq. m. / 64 sq. ft.
The floor plan of the Silver Muse Veranda Suite is like a junior suite in a hotel. There is a spacious living area with floor-to-ceiling glass doors that lead on to a fully furnished veranda, as well as a luxurious marble bathroom and a walk-in closet.
Living space in the Silver Muse Veranda Suite
The living space is an expression of understated Italian elegance, but it also has a luxurious designer look. It is divided into two zones – a restful sleeping area and a comfortable sitting area.
The sitting area has a plush sofa and high-back armchair on one side, while on the other there is a marble-topped writing desk and mini-bar. A 42-inch flat-screen TV is mounted behind a mirror (above the writing desk).
At the other end of the living space is a sleeping area with a queen or twin bed setup – the choice is yours. There are luxury Italian bed linens as well as an extensive pillow menu which includes feather, hypoallergenic and even buck wheat offerings. The buck wheat pillow was surprisingly supportive.
On either side of the bed are night stands with generous storage spaces, as well as bedside lamps and multidirectional reading lights. In addition, there are handy bedside power units with USB charging slots, US and European points.
A second 42-inch flat-screen television is cleverly hidden behind a mirrored wall opposite the bed.
I think it’s the butler service that makes the Silver Muse Veranda Suite experience extra-special. Indeed, a dedicated butler is at your disposal no matter what suite category you choose.
Your butler is there to spoil you rotten. He’ll keep your suite just the way you like it – from replenishing your mini bar to arranging flowers. He can also bring canapés and champagne each evening, but that’s not all. In addition your butler can make dinner reservations or book tours. He can even pack your luggage. What’s more, your butler is available for most of the day (with the exception of a break in the early afternoon).
Your own private Silver Muse veranda
However, I think the best part of the Silver Muse Veranda Suite is the veranda itself. It is the perfect place to relax with a good book or a sunset cocktail – delivered by you butler.
All the verandas on the Silver Muse cruise ship are very spacious. Each one has ample room for a stylish outdoor furniture set, which includes two chairs with ottomans as well as a cocktail table. The verandas are also very private.
However, it’s worth noting that the veranda is not actually teak, but rather a faux-teak surface. This is quite a departure for Silversea Cruises who always had genuine teak verandas on their classic fleet.
The reason for the change is simple. Myanmar – which produces 75% of the World’s teak – introduced an export ban in 2014. That meant teak became too expensive.
The luxurious Veranda Suite bathroom
The bathroom in the Silver Muse Veranda Suite really impresses. It is covered in fine Italian marble and has a beautiful timber floor that gives it a luxury spa look.
There is a full-size tub as well as a separate rainwater shower. The glass door of the shower closes tightly, so there are never any leaks. Also, there is a single, large basin and plenty of room for storage around the vanity area.
When I sailed on Silver Muse there was a selection of luxury bath products including Bvlgari and hypoallergenic options.
Storage space in the Veranda Suite
The Veranda Suites on the Silver Muse cruise ship have lots of storage space. There is a walk in closet with room for at least two cases full of clothing, as well as a set of drawers and space for shoes. There is also a safe.
If you need it, there is also more storage space in the cupboards under the writing desk in the living area.
Once you have unpacked there is also plenty of room to store luggage under the bed, even the large hard shell variety.
Silver Muse Veranda Suite categories
There are 242 beautifully appointed Silver Muse Veranda Suites among three different categories – Classic, Superior and Deluxe. They are spread across five passenger decks, from deck 5 to 9. When choosing which category is right for you there are some important points worth noting.
Firstly, there is no physical difference between the Veranda Suite categories. They are all the same size and have the same decor. The only difference is the position on the ship.
- Classic Veranda Suites: These are positioned on the lower decks toward the front of the ship.
- Superior Veranda Suites: Like the Classic category these suites are found toward the front of the ship, however they are on higher decks.
- Deluxe Veranda Suites: These suites have the best location. Indeed, they are all found midship which means they experience less movement in rough seas.
The cost difference between the Classic and Deluxe categories can be significant. However, on certain voyages it may be worth paying the extra. For instance, on long ocean crossings a Silver Muse Deluxe Veranda Suite would have a more comfortable ride.
