History buffs and sun-seekers alike are sure to flock to the latest expedition offering from premium boutique Australian cruise line Coral Expeditions.
The Australian small ship expedition cruise line is setting sail for ‘Islands of the South Pacific’, a new 16-night Guadalcanal cruise aboard the flagship Coral Discoverer in December 2018.
The voyage will show guests some of World War II’s most significant South Pacific sights including Guadalcanal as well as the place where John F. Kennedy swam ashore when a Japanese destroyer sunk his PT boat.

This remarkable expedition will also take in the unspoilt beauty of New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea. Indeed, Coral Discoverer will visit some of the South Pacific’s rarest pearls. The magnificently appointed vessel will slip into hidden lagoons giving unrivalled access to vibrant coral reefs, pristine atolls and volcanic calderas.

Guest can swim and snorkel in the sparkling waters of Champagne Beach in Vanuatu and explore the surrounding rainforest on foot. They can enjoy a warm welcome from the legendary ‘saltwater people’ of Langa Langa Lagoon in the Solomons and visit the fascinating open-air markets of Gizo which showcase wood and stone carvings from local artisans.

Coral Discoverer will also cruise to Guadalcanal Island, a backdrop for some of the most historically important battles of World War II. Internationally renowned lecturer-at-sea Captain Peter Martin will be on board to explain the significance of the site. He is both a historian and a true titled ‘Master and Commander’ with 30 years of maritime experience.
This incredible 16-day Guadalcanal cruise will also call at Tanna Island in Vanuatu where guests can venture up the lower reaches of the island’s active volcano.
