Small and beautifully formed best describes the newest expedition ship in the luxury Ponant Cruises expedition fleet. With space for just 184 pampered guests, the new Le Lapérouse has embarked on her maiden voyage and will be officially inaugurated at a ceremony in Reykjavik, Iceland on 10 July 2018.

At a time when other luxury cruise lines are ordering bigger vessels Ponant has charted a different course. Le Lapérouse is the first of six small and ultra-luxurious expedition ships, known as the Ponant Explorers series.

Each of these intimate expedition ships has just 92 staterooms and suites, all with a balcony or private terrace. Attentive service will also be assured with 110 bilingual French-English crew.

The new vessel is already turning heads with her elegant French interior design and long sleek lines, but that’s not all. The Ponant Explorer series also boast state-of-the-art technology and major innovations designed to improve the onboard experience and respect the environment. Le Lapérouse certainly sets a new standard for low-impact cruising.

Among the many innovations onboard is the World first “Blue Eye”. It is an innovative multi-sensorial underwater lounge that allows passengers to see the underwater world through two giant portholes.

Jean Emmanuel Sauvée is the CEO and Co-Founder of Ponant, and he’s justifiably proud of his newest ship. “Le Lapérouse is a wonderful achievement for the company. From remarkable nautical performances to technical excellence and offering an extraordinary level of comfort, everything is in place for the Ponant Explorers series to be a huge success”.

Le Lapérouse will remain in North Europe until September, before sailing south for the end of the Mediterranean season and then on to the Far East and Australia. Discover more about the new Le Lapérouse at the Ponant website.
